Making your own hummus is so easy and you get to control what you add into it instead of buying store-bought hummus which can be full of preservatives and other additives. All you need to make hummus are some chickpeas, a blender, tahini, oil and a few spices. So let’s make hummus!

Ingredients:

1 can chickpeas, drained, rinsed, pat dry to  remove excess water

3 tablespoons tahini

3 tablespoons grapeseed or avocado oil, or oil of your choice

juice of one small lemon

1  clove garlic , peeled and chopped (or add more garlic if you want to make garlic hummus)

1/4 teaspoon sweet paprika

3-4 tablespoons water, adding at a proportion of 1 tablespoon more as needed if hummus is too thick

salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Put all ingredients except paprika , into a food processor or high speed blender and puree until desired consistency. I like mine more chunky but  you may like your hummus on the smoother side . If you do, just keep processing until desired consistency and then top with a dash of paprika.
