It’s That Time of Year Again – April 17-23rd- Time for the week long Veg Pledge. Once again DairyFreeGina is pleased to be a Partner in this important, health changing week sponsored by Compassion Over Killing, a non-profit animal rights group. This week long celebration explores the benefits of eating a vegetation diet which include benefits for your health, the planet, and animals.
Pledge to Go Veg for Your Health!
Eating a plant based diet can help prevent and reverse illness including heart disease, diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure and obesity. Studies find eating a vegan diet could save 8 million human lives and trillions of dollars by 2050. And eating no meat, dairy, and animal products doesn’t have to be expensive or tasteless. Meals made with grains, beans, veggies, nut milks cost far less than meat and dairy.
Check out the recipe section of my website for cost effective, easy to make, healthy vegan meals. Follow me on Twitter , Instagram and my blog for more tips to eat vegan all this week. And when you take the pledge you’ll be signed up to receive coupons and freebies from sponsors. You can easily take the pledge by clicking here.
Pledge to Go Veg for the Planet!
According to a United Nations report, “18% of all global human–induced greenhouse gas emissions comes from animal agriculture and is a leading cause of biodiversity loss, resource depletion, pollution and global warming.” By eliminating dairy and meat from your diet, you help sustain the planet and our future.
Pledge to Go Veg for the Animals!
Nine billion, yes billion, land and aquatic animals are raised and killed for food every year. While we all need to eat, these animals for the most part are housed on horrific factory farms where the sole purpose is to raise as many animals as fast as possible in the least amount of space, simply for slaughter.
About half the water used in the U.S. is to raise animals for food. It takes more than 2400 gallons of water to produce just 1 pound of meat! Contrast this to 25 gallons to grow 1 pound of wheat. Take the Veg Pledge and in 7 days you’ll do something beneficial for your health, the planet, and precious animals.
So come on, take the Veg Pledge with me and countless others including your neighbors, athletes like the NFL’s David Carter, and celebrities.
Last year my husband, who grew up on lots of meat and dairy, took the pledge and a year later eats very little meat. He’s lost weight and is more healthy.
